Every day, sea coasts around the world go through the cycle of high and low tides. From high to low and from low to high, every 12 hours and 25 minutes. Again and again. The forces of the moon have been doing their thing for centuries.
For the "Made in China Festival" with Ha Concerts in Ghent, Belgium, guzheng master Wu Fei is will spend a week creating with a Belgian based ensemble cast.
Using ancient Chinese poetry and the waves as their guide, they will create their own sonic poem to experience together with the audience.
This wonderful amalgam of influences and musically extraordinary personalities cannot but result in a wondrous concert.
"Tides and Time" is premiered by House of Wu Fei, a collaboration featuring:
- Wu Fei (guzheng, vocals)
- Dijf Sanders ('Java', 'Pura', 'Supra'; electronics):
Dijf has explored the music of Java, Nepal and most recently Georgia to create wondrous soundtracks.
- Simon Segers (De Beren Gieren, STADT, Black Flower; drums)
Drummer Simon Segers treads paths between free, jazz and rock.
- Louise van den Heuvel (Sonic Hug, Supernova, Small Medium; bass)
Dishwasher bassist Louise van den Heuvel is greedy for all things adventure.
* Simon Segers replaces the originally announced Mattias De Craene (saxophone) due to circumstances.
A very personal tour de force in perpetual propulsive motion.
